Gratitude for support and confidence

To members of our community who participated in the voting process, I express my deepest gratitude for your support and the immense confidence you have bestowed upon me.

I also would like to thank my opponent, Sean Hall, for being a part of our democratic process. We both ran campaigns with respect and civility. I hope that in the near future, Sean and I can sit down and work together on the things our great community needs and deserves.

Words alone cannot adequately convey my appreciation for the countless individuals who selflessly contributed their time and energy to ensure my reelection. Without the tireless efforts of our dedicated, grassroots volunteers, I would not have achieved this honor. Each and every one of you holds a special place in my heart, and I am truly fortunate to be surrounded by such an exceptional team.

I am profoundly grateful for the unwavering support of my family. Their unwavering encouragement and understanding provide me with the time and energy necessary to fulfill my duties as your representative and advocate for our district.

Throughout these past two years, I have had the privilege of engaging in meaningful conversations with thousands of individuals within our community. I am deeply appreciative of the support and connections I have forged during these interactions. Each conversation has been an invaluable opportunity for learning and growth, and I will carry these ideas, stories and potential policies with me as I embark on my second term.

I humbly thank you for entrusting me with the honor of representing you once again in the Legislature. Your vote of support is a profound affirmation of my commitment to serving our community and advocating for the betterment of our district.

State Rep. Cheryl A. Golek, Harpswell Neck

A better option than demolition

In 2022, the Mitchell Field Committee conducted a survey of more than 500 residents, which found that more than 55% were in favor of repairing and repurposing the administration building. The town commissioned the Midcoast Council of Governments to review the evidence and produce recommendations for the future of the building. After confirming that the building is structurally sound, the organization conducted a series of interviews and workshops. Finding a high level of support, it recommended inviting nonprofits to submit proposals to repurpose the building.

Safe walking on Route 24

Have you ever tried to walk along Route 24? The only safe place is on the walkway of the Cribstone Bridge. Otherwise, on both Orr's and Bailey islands, it's literally trusting that the often speeding traffic will see you and steer away from your path.

Demand due diligence on station

I am confused. We are being asked to approve a $6 million fourth fire station on Mountain Road. The information being disseminated is piecemeal, sometimes contradictory and often misleading.
