Planning Board to hold hearing on new flood maps

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has published new Flood Insurance Rate Maps for Cumberland County. These maps identify the floodplains in Harpswell that are subject to the requirements of the town’s Floodplain Management Ordinance.

Adoption of the new maps and an updated Floodplain Management Ordinance will be considered at an upcoming special Town Meeting to be scheduled by the Select Board. The Planning Board will hold a public hearing on the new maps and ordinance on Wednesday, April 24, starting at 6:30 p.m., at Harpswell Community School.

There will be an open house prior to the hearing, at 5:30 p.m., to allow property owners the opportunity to view the new maps. Town staff will be available at the open house to answer questions about the new maps and ordinance.
