Norma Jean (Huff) Conway died at home on June 21, 2026, surrounded by her family, four months after being diagnosed with cancer. She died just days before turning 84. Born and raised on Orr’s Island in Maine, Norma lived in Lexington, Massachusetts, for 20 years while raising her three children. She was a staple of every class field trip, along with being a Girl Scout troop leader, a Boy Scout troop leader, and a Campfire Girl troop leader.

As a true island girl, she returned to her childhood home, where she lived for the rest of her life. She was a devoted member of the Islands Community Church, where she sang alto in the choir. Norma treasured participating in an islands genealogical and historical group each Wednesday with her closest friends. She also loved spending time with her lunch group. She was very proud to work at The Great Impasta restaurant for 26 years, until she retired in her early 70s.

Norma was predeceased by her husband, Thomas H. Conway. She is survived by her three children, Susan G. (Walsh) Harrington; Edward J. Walsh Jr. and his wife, Jane; and Kathleen A. Walsh Huff; as well as a “daughter of the heart,” Barbara G. (Schuler) Wilson. She was the loving grandmother of Daniel J. Wallace; Leah K. (Harrington) Cipriano and her husband, John; John A. Huff; and Adeline E. Huff. Norma is also survived by the joys of her life, her two great-grandsons, Elijah G. and Sebastiano J. Cipriano.

A memorial service will be held in Norma’s honor on Saturday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at the Islands Community Church on Bailey Island. A reception will follow the service at the church. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. at the Orr’s Island Cemetery.
