Victim identified in Bailey Island house fire

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office has identified the man found dead inside a burned home on Bailey Island as 71-year-old Joseph Meuse.

Meuse’s body was discovered during an investigation into a fire that broke out overnight on March 8 at a residence on Sea Mist Lane.

According to office spokesperson Shannon Moss, the cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Tuesday, March 18. “The investigation itself is still active,” she said.
