Noel Yacobian

Noel Yacobian passed away peacefully at her home in Harpswell on Nov. 11. Her wish to stay in her home was made possible thanks to a great team of caregivers and friends, many of whom were neighbors.

Noel was born in Newton, Massachusetts, and raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

She owned Ara’s, a Wellesley and Boston men’s clothing store, well known for outfitting stylish gentlemen in Boston’s business circles.

Noel attended Westbrook College, where she began her love for Maine, and consequently stayed, finally settling and building her dream home in Harpswell. She lived here for over 25 years with various loves of her life, as well as a golden retriever or two.

Noel was a volunteer driver for Harpswell Fire and Rescue, a role she found fulfilling as well as challenging.

She had an inquisitive mind and was a dogged researcher wherever her interests took her. A patriot to the core, she will be greatly missed for her independent thinking and outspoken personality.

Devoted daughter to her mom, Ana (101 years young), Noel is survived by her mother, sister Linda, brothers Buz and Michael, five nieces and nephews, and six great-nieces and nephews.

There will be no service and internment will be at the family’s discretion in Massachusetts.

Feel free to donate on her behalf to the Harpswell organizations that were close to her heart: Harpswell Aging at Home, Harpswell Fire and Rescue, and the Harpswell Santa Fund.
