Good Samaritans

The striper tourney postponement because of a lack of fish ("PTO reschedules inaugural striper tournament after anglers strike out," June 20, harpswellanchor.org) is a sad state of affairs, but the reasons an organizer gave for lack of stripers are incorrect.

We are astonished by the response to our first Harpswell Open Studio Tour, from both the community and the artists! The event was well attended, far beyond our expectations.

The waterfront at Mitchell Field is our own piece of paradise. It's even got a building that could further the community's experience. There is value in preserving a part of Harpswell's history, with the administration building easily becoming a recreation center.
