Two incumbent town officials will stand for reelection without opposition in Harpswell’s election this March.

Harpswell Select Board member David Chipman and Maine School Administrative District 75 Board of Directors member Frank Wright will be the only candidates on the ballot, according to Town Clerk Cathy Doughty. The deadline to qualify for the ballot was Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Both candidates are seeking three-year terms.

Chipman has nearly 10 years of experience on the Select Board, from 1999-2002 and 2017 to the present.

Wright is nearing five years of service on the school board. He was appointed to the body in 2019, then won his first three-year term in 2021. He chaired the board for the 2022-23 school year.

Harpswell has four seats on MSAD 75’s 14-member board. The school district encompasses the towns of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell and Topsham.

The election will coincide with the annual Town Meeting on Saturday, March 9, at Harpswell Community School. The polls for the election will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the business meeting will commence at 10.

Absentee ballots will be available 30 days before the election, around Feb. 8, according to Doughty. Voters may request them now, by phone or in person, and the town clerk’s office will mail them out when they become available.
