Harpswell man, 21, dies in crash on Mountain Road

A 21-year-old Harpswell man, Mason Warren, died when he crashed his pickup truck on Mountain Road in Harpswell shortly before 7 a.m., Monday, Oct. 31.

Warren was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado toward Harpswell Neck Road at about 6:56 a.m., according to a statement from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. The truck left the road onto the dirt shoulder, then re-entered the road, crossed both lanes and left the opposite side of the road. The truck then hit a dirt embankment and flipped onto its roof before coming to rest at the intersection with Reach Road.

Warren was not wearing a seat belt, according to the statement. He died at the scene.

Alcohol and speed “appear to be factors,” the Sheriff’s Office said in the statement. Its Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the crash.

In addition to the Sheriff’s Office, Harpswell Neck Fire and Rescue responded to the crash.
